#1. 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD - People are heavy, like properly heavy, so to make sure the Pilot can actually handle 7 of them and still tow anything it needs to be stronk, how stronk? in this trim, 1812 lbs . That’s many Stronk.

#3. 2016 Ram 1500 3.0 ecodiesel outdoorsman 4x4 quad cab short 6’4” bed - Pickup trucks are for utility and work and no one uses them just to put around town...right? Ram figured out a while ago that this is...less than true...and catered their light duty trucks to match. The result is a creamy riding luxury vehicle that also has a bed sadly it also means that with the heavy diesel engine and 4 wheel drive, this ram can only take 1241 lbs along for the ride. That being said it can still tow 7600 lbs, so that’s something.

4. 2016 Subaru Forester XT - The old favorite fast cute ute has gotten less interesting over the years including less speed, less manual and less capability (towing is 1500 lbs) but at 1028 lbs it can still carry more than the looser on this list!

#5. 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with hardtop

Coming in last place is the car with the toughest personality yet the smallest...payload. 891 lbs is what’s listed as the max payload of a Jeep wrangler unlimited Rubicon, and when you factor in that the hardtop weighs between 100-150 lbs (no reliable info so we’ll settle on 125) that leaves you 766 lbs payload before lightbars and decepticon stickers. Basically if you are putting 5 people in they had better be small...and pack light.

So there you have it? Proof that, um...cars do stuff? Wait no, that you can’t judge a book by its cover.

The Jeep was a lot less than I thought it would be.

yeah, its actually shockingly low. like with 4 adults in there, there is a change than a snack stop at 711 might put you over the limit.

I’m guessing it’s supposed to be soft for off road use, but still.... That’s just pathetic.

To be fair, that’s been the case for every Wrangler, ever. I’ve never been in the back seat of an unlimited, but regular Wranglers are pretty, uh, intimate.

Actual question, where did you find these numbers, cause i’m looking for my 2014 pathfinder and all a can find is cargo volume and max towing.(5000Lbs)

Its not easy. Some places give you playload numbers (FCA/BMW) sometimes you have to find the Curb and the GVWR seperataly and then just subtract the one from the other. I’ve noticed its really hard to find GVWR on Nissans. IF you get frustrated check the door jam info sheet which will tell you GVWR then look up the curb weight.

k, cause I was thinking of picking up about 1000 lbs of stone wall, then was told they charge 45$ to deliver.

So instead of 2-3 trips and loading and unloading by myself I got it delivered.

Worth the $45 in my opinion, but you would have been fine, anything with more than 5 seats is going to have a payload above 1000 lbs by default.

didn’t want to waste a day and having that much weight on the folded leather seats.....

took less than 30 min of my time with the driver to unload. and I added 32 cases of 2 x 2 ceiling tiles. volume wise could of all fit in one trip(for a good tetris player)....

Not “entirely” true, and I got into trouble with this one. I was driving around a 2007 4Runner for quite some time that had the two fold down “seats” in the cargo area, making it a 7 seater if you had two friends who didn’t have legs. If I remember correctly, I was only supposed to have 900 lbs in the thing in its configuration.

I got into a little trouble attempting to move 7 people from Reno to Sacramento, attempting to drive through the Sierras.

Im not sure what you are trying to say to be honest. Did something happen? according to my research the 2007 4runner had between 1250 and 1500 lbs payload...

The police weren’t happy with how low the back end was hanging.

Yeah, mine too... Maybe I did my math wrong after the incident. I definitely know it was overloaded whenever we had 7 people in it though, which is not that difficult even with a 1250 lbs payload.

so true. I remember taking 6 guys and their bikes up a class 2 trail in Moab a few years ago with 225,000 mile old springs...it was not a happy truck and spent a lot of time on the bump stops.

Kinja'd!!!

Still had a good time on the trail though!

Yeah but at the same time, you have to figure at some point, all those stock Jeep components are going away for anyone who would really care about payload, they SHOULD be building their truck/SUV/rig/assault vehicle to at least a modicum of specification for what they are modding it for.
